Republicanism and socialism 2. Working class democracy?

 There is no working class in Northern Ireland hence the rise of parties of the unemployed and welfare recipients.

From 210 000 (1979) to 230 000 (1981) to 27 000 involved in manufacturing and transport in Northern Ireland presently....

That is why the lunatics who were once arrested for fighting outside public houses, dancehalls and places of entertainment have taken over the asylum.....

I do not want politicians who talk for drunks,drug addicts and layabouts on the radio spouting about wider scale welfare entitlement and universal entitlement to social security....

If you do not work or have not worked or pursued a meaningful occupation,then you should not receive support from the state unless you are a child,orphan or asylum seeker....

People who stand around street corners brandishing knuckledusters and clubs should be sent to labour camps. If they are juveniles they should be sent to reform schools or borstals....

In El Salvador the activities of the FMLN who called a halt to their activities six years before their Irish equivalents left a legacy of four thousand murders a year and competing gangs of narco-traffickers....

The same development in our society may be kept in control for the present by vigilantees acting in consort with the police but at the end of the day,the police are not the appropriate people to deal with death rages... It is only an army that is trained to deal with the dangerous class of pusher and gangland murderer....

Getting the vote out?

 The parties in the Stormont Assembly only gain 55% of the total votes of those registered as eligible to cast their ballot.

It is also the unspoken but recorded fact  that 28% of eligible Catholic voters are not on the electoral register and 22-24% of eligible Protestant voters  are not registered to vote....

Surely,it is clear that as Brecht catcalled in East Germany in 1953 after the results of the general election were announced,"The people have elected the wrong government, we must elect a different people..."

Surely when the people in Stormont are told that they do not have the support of the majority of the population,they see in Brecht's mimickry a non-humorous solution to the lack of legitimacy.....

That being so, they say and do what they want and ignore the electorate......

Radio news managers,broadcast news executives,if you give publicity to these political underachievers reconcile yourself to falling numbers of listeners and viewers and eventually your news outlets will be faced with closure.

Stormont politicians are flogging a dead horse. A clear majority want nothing to do with the Northern Ireland Assembly or the people who sit in it ....

Is Sinn Fein socialist? Is Sinn Fein a party of the working class? Parting with illusions

NO! NO! NO! Sinn Fein in its Northern guise  is a nationalist device of US imperialism and British politicians to kick the ball of Progress further down the field. 

Sinn Fein is a trying to morph into a democratic party of a republican type but it is dragged down despite the best intentions of its leaders by its dependence on a few country admixtures or daoine cleasta. 

Michelle O Neill says that she strives for rights and equality of treatment.

 Opposition to elitism and discrimination is supposed to be Sinn Fein's founding principle but it is a party which is handicapped by the need to draw competing classes together. The result is that it settles for the Lowest Common Denominator.

Its socialism is petite bourgeois.

Sinn Fein cannot truly align itself with big business without loss of a majority of its support or mediate the demands of the wage workers without cutting itself adrift from its rich financier and investment banker friends.It is in a very difficult place caught between the two pillars of politics and economics.

However unprepossessing that situation may be,it has survived democratic crisis and upheaval to build a strong, determined, cross-class alliance of interested parties,one of whose core aims is Irish Unity.

In the South Sinn Fein was historically a party of the lumpen proletariat,the dossers,the small publicans and the shop assistants with a few death riders and upper class literati, doctors and lawyers thrown in. 

It should,in passing,be said that there was no worse opponent for any real politician be he red or green than a small Irish shopkeeper or publican or tradesman. He wouldn't have given you the wind of his fart. No more than Donald Trump or the big-shots in the Houses of Congress want to pay the medical bills of the poor. The overwhelming majority of the Irish Parliament and Senate was no different.

Sinn  Fein, a "voluntary association"?

If Sinn Fein wasn't prepared to pay the wages of those who risked their lives on its adventurist games,they are even less likely to care for them in old age or infirmity now. Many are replicates of the dissidents who want to bring disorder and chaos. 

Both parties of republicans, government and unaligned,wish to collapse the taxation and welfare system. It is the enduring law of government income and expenditure in every jurisdiction that the books are balanced from internal revenue not outside cash or foreign subventions, the so-called Barnett Formula included.

Furthermore there is no difference between an Irish Irelander on the end of a needle and an Orange thug high on amphetamines.

At the top and bottom of Dublin and Southern Sinn Fein and at the rural level,there are very few worthy and grounded people involved. Sometimes they  have been badgered by constituents into doing favours and awarding lucrative government contracts. Often the old hands have been hoodwinked by talk that comes from the criminal classes. We say that one of the facts of life is that listening to criminals has cost some of them their sanity and that they have lost their bearings.

 Then there is the ever present wayfaring stranger like John and Vincent Fitzpatrick.

 The followers of people such as Adams, Kelly,Twomey and the hangmen who came to prominence in the early days once congregated around street corners to throw bricks and bottles at the British Army. I refer to people like Martin and Mick Mc Manus and Manus Maguire and the people of the Bogside and Lenadoon and Ardoyne and the Lower Falls.

 Sinn Fein dragged everyone into the gutter to take part in riots, demonstrations and protests. 

Those games were what Connolly called a carnival of reaction. Connolly was a man who long foresaw where mob violence inspired by Orange ringleaders in Belfast and Irish Ireland rhetoric would lead. 

More recently Sinn Fein sabotaged social and economic outcomes for Young Dreamers to keep its captive audience alert and active as "street players" . It went on to recruit nuisance 'call handlers'  and immobile creepy crawlers.

Some other salient facts must be pointed out to the audience of internet readers and time-expired BBC license holders.

The active component of volunteers never numbered more than hundreds. Perhaps a thousand,no more,at any one time because anything greater would have represented a threat to the Southern rulers who put them up to their games with bombs and guns. The IRA's activities were directed through intermediaries by the Irish Army,those idle mouthpieces who boasted openly about their links to Sinn Fein and financed beer parties all along the Border during the worst days of the conflict. The Irish Army's model was the drunken, German soldiery of the 1930's.

All gone! All long gone apart from the lumpen proletariat which sustains and votes for Green Tories such as Adams and his large coterie of Irish Irelanders. The latter gather around him like flies around dung.

All types of ideology-driven protest movements are best described as national democratic or nationalist socialist. That is, their politics amount to trying to pull their own countries up by their bootstraps. None of them succeed in the long run on their solo runs. The Troubles

Sinn Fein and Workers Party and democratic socialists have always been at loggerheads.

No nationalist insurrectionist and revolutionary socialist and Communist ever let any democratic socialist and Catholic fidelis have his say or gave him their vote. Their hearts are as black as the Earl of Hell's waistcoat.

These are autonomous organisations left over from the days of opposition to liberal democracy, something which is exclusively the product of the French Revolution and the February Revolution.

Trump is a nationalist opponent of liberal democracy (and Christian humanism). He is trying to usher in a semi-fascist presidency,one which invests executive, judicial and legislative powers in his hands.

Insurrectionists such as Trump and revolutionaries such as Allen send out mischievous people who you meet in the street.

Insurrectionists and revolutionaries are DICTATORS formed by the politics of the 1840's in the case of nationalism and in the 1920's in the case of Bolshevism (or revolutionary socialism).

Both constitute a solid body of opposition to both radical conservatism and democratic socialism and even free expression.

The organisations of nationalist rebels and revolutionary socialists are base the training of hangers-on and streetwalkers on harassment and intimidation.

That is the training for state terror (before they come out on the street) in a display of mindless violence,shooting and bombing or for the socialists part,a mass strike and military uprising.

My conclusion after involvement with both of what could be called sets of political butterflies is that working class organisations and democratic socialist parties should not compromise with  nationalist and revolutionary socialist organisations.

My advice to Northerners is to HIT them a box on the mouth if the drunken Free State arseholes sniff and snort at you.

For others,have resort to the old Dublin canard and say,"Go on,ye dog ye!" Say it loudly and affirmatively so as not to be ground down by the Free State Army and Garda tramps.

Such is their grip on Southern society with evictions,attrition and terror that it hasn't produced one notable thinker or intellectual since the 1920's.

The South has no innovators either intellectual or scientific to show for its years of independence because of the grip of the Irish Army and Free State police.

The South's claims to be a democracy and a law-governed state are absolutely laughable and no amount of political twisting or Presidential mithering can transform a backward people and society.

The doctors plead 'care for their patients as their number one priority '. I kid you not.

Anybody who regards a doctor as interested in anything other than his own family and an exaggerated salary,is a fool who probably thinks the cow jumped over the moon.

The medical involvement in denigrating and humiliating sceptics and the opponents of paranoidal police ideaisation requires the proper supervision of the medical profession and independent governance. Self-regulation in Britain allows medics to flout the basic standards of justice and all elementary principles of law.

Stern measures against medical and legal privilege and self-regulation must be put in place and salaries set at the level of a skilled worker,no more. I am referring to all doctors. People such as indigenous medical murderers must be arrested and made subject to the normal processes of law. Long deterrent sentences are required not legal and judicial pleasantries or journalistic and political obscurantism.

We are not going to get change from a government or legal profession which kow-tows to these dangerous and irresponsible louts and many of them have gone much further,very much further.

A prospectus for change

We can not have a law-governed state with a gang of cigarette-smugglers in the position of ruling party. Such a state would be similar to a Communist state. Neither has any duly-appointed or properly trained judges or independent legal counsel. Solicitors are too far down the Establishment pecking order to influence legal or social outcomes. Only a High Court judge or politician of standing can effect any change at a legislative level.

Sinn Fein is a national  democratic organisation with loose criminal connections which are built in to its very fabric. Any rival politician will tell you so. There are few bright-spots about post-1992 Sinn Fein but the further down the ladder you go,the better the scenario becomes. At councillor and party officer level-even better still, grassroots members -you encounter the strong moral fibre and willingness to help all classes and people. This fundamental fact of Troubles-era local politics was sadly absent from British self-styled "working-class M.P's"  such as Tony Banks and the self-styled Communists in London and Dublin in my past experience.

My long experience of NHS medicine is influenced by users and abusers and socialist femmes fatales who are employed in the hospital gulags.

I see in the ground-level Sinn Feiner-it does not matter where you find them- the archetypal good old sort and national democrat.

An alternative?

The Irish Communists drew their supporters from the Revolutionary Workers Groups, the unemployed who rioted in 1932. This is the class referred to by Marx as "the dangerous class".

Connolly drew the Irish Citizens Army from the trade unionists of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union and the intelligentsia.

The IRA drew it's supporters during the Civil War from "the unemployed and rural labourers" (Michael Collins,Dail Speeches, 1922).

The Irish Volunteers drew their supporters from the urban poor and small farmers.

The Free State Army was drawn from the ex-British Army soldiers who had been demobilised after the Great War.

We say therefore that the Irish Communists in trying to draw the IRA into the Republican Congress alongside the unemployed effectively severed their historic links with the Bolshevik Party. They went their own way in 1935 because the Bolsheviks united small farmers, industrial workers and soldiers.

Doubtless the Russians were glad to see the back of those drunken layabouts and schemers.

Only in the period September 1983-January 1985 was there anything other than sentimental attachment between Bolshevik and Irish Republican Movement and that period is loathed by both Putin and Gorbachev factions in Russia as a desultory and regrettable episode which involved them in an insurgency against a former ally,namely Britain,and deprived the later Soviet Union of finance and trade.

Where police carry guns or operate in association with those who do,there is no law and order or law-governed state or active and impartial judiciary.

A law-governed society appears where people and police feel safe in their own skins.

The police are a provocative presence everywhere but nowhere more so than where they are armed.

The measure of civil peace the South has enjoyed is largely due to the confinement of police to barracks. Keeping the loudmouths off the streets would greatly decelerate sectarian division in Northern Ireland.

We look forward to a clear break with the past and a clean sweep of policemen and women being made from the police force of our prison state. Eventually the English and the hangers-on will have to be put out. The work of depoliticising the police must be put in motion long before their inevitable departure with their families and kept women.

Social welfare is a grace and favour thing in a Catholic or national democratic state. It is ENTIRELY DISCRETIONARY.

Not only is the South of Ireland not a law-governed state with ascertainable and verifiable rights,it is NOT capable of developing into a law-governed society.

Universally,those who have had a Catholic education in this country rarely articulate themselves properly unless they have assistance from outside and the same is true of all countries with a history of sentimental, wishy-washy nationalism and colonialism. In Northern Ireland,we need the English as a country with a longer history of radicalism and democracy. The BBC is a necessary corrective to the obscurantism cultivated by nationalist headmen. Those orchestrators of contrary country nonsense have taken their leave of the public stage. They spent too long in prison or in the public eye to talk any real sense.

The organ-grinders of the all-in-this-together kleptocracy are in Belfast and Derry. Noone else gets a look-in to the formation of Sinn Fein 'policies'.

Sinn Fein must ride the crest of ever greater outbursts of mock indignation and moral outrage like a country clergyman or amateur philosopher. By the latter,I mean Richard Boyd-Barret.

The only good ever done in the British Isles was by the British Labour Party in association with a few native social workers and that amount of Southern doctors who you could count on one hand.

Never forget,Irishmen,that it was the Jews of Amsterdam who subsidised the Williamite invasion and the British Crown and the Elizabethan and Cromwellian land settlements which dispossessed the local people. Culture

 A cultured society is one with an independent print and news media owned by its native citizens and indigenous publishing houses with independent facilities for printing which are not dependent on government funding or foreign custom.

In its childish seniority of years and decline, the police force of Northern Ireland seeks to prejudice the wellbeing and safety of casual rapporteurs on crime and drugs so as to have them killed.

It is all well and good for Pope and freedman to say,"Banish misfortune!" but take another look.

Have deaths linked to legal indifference, police cabals and judicial recklessness diminished?

 Ask,"Will unnecessary deaths decline as a result of the election of a new crop of nationalist and Provo M.P.'s?"

Obviously not...medically-induced death and euthanasia is rising . Politicians, priests, police and the journalistic profession ignore this instrument of open terror at their peril. They,too,will face death by what coroners sometimes call medical misadventure (or the intervention of British Government employees of the NHS).

Armies were set up to deal with rioting and civil unrest and the police were set up to deal with thieves and people making a nuisance of themselves on our streets.

In our colonial situation the army are a cause of chronic disorder and the police are the main source of public mannafestations representing nuisance.

The writing is on the wall for partition. What is to take its place?

The fact of the matter is that except for those Northern Catholics who are afraid in census returns to describe themselves as other than Northern Irish-evidently, they do not want a loyalist putting a brick through their window-there is clearly a Catholic majority in the Six Counties.

The demography of religious affiliation does not entail a majority vote for Irish Unity in a Border Poll but it leads to the conclusion that there will be an agreement over the heads of Northerners for a transfer of the North to the jurisdiction of the South.

Sinn Fein's electoral challenge has faded. Their share of the vote in the South has fallen from 24.5% to 19% overall and their part is now taken largely by Fianna Fail and Fine Gael as petite bourgeois nationalists and Christian socialists. Sinn Fein  have only the country priest and small shopkeeper and urban artisan to support their facile claims to be a party of the poor and marginalised in the South. A party of the poor and marginalised remains a distant prospect North and South.

Fianna Fail is much better suited as a party of delivery and thinking man's nationalism to deliver Irish Unity than Sinn Fein though Sinn Fein comes with a tinge of long-faded radicalism. 

Fianna Fail has the only credible claim in the South to be able to steer a path of industrial growth and social progress in an independent Ireland.

Irish Republicans are what is known as extreme democrats. I think in particular of Tommy Steele and Moira Drumm and Eamann Mc Cann. They believed in shouting their opponents down and raising a loud commotion. Social democrats certainly do not in the North and South of this beknighted country. I think of John Hume,Ivan Barr, Malachy Mc Elholm and Jim Lunny.

Mc Guinness despite his calm exterior often berated others at Army Council meetings to send British soldiers "back in body bags".

The Provos like the Evangelical preacher or roaring and bellowing missioner take no hostages. They leave nothing but devastated towns and cities and ruins behind them because they are thoroughly intemperate people. Most of the listening public turn on their radios at news time to get real information on the affairs of the day from people who are not apologists for loyalist and paramilitary gangsters. By the current crop omalign newsreaders, I refer to people such as Bouchier-Hayes,Eve Conlon-Gallagher and 'Grainne Mc Kinney' (Kate Mc Cusker). 

From BBC news broadcasts we hear only apologists for armed members of the population such as the RUC/British Army and the mumblings of spokesmen for cornerboys with concealed knives and knuckledusters. The political spokesmen for the latter know only too well that they are taking their orders from their intermediaries,similar confederates. 

My words of advice

Don't give the BBC news broadcasts any credence and ask for them to be turned off if you are in a public place. BBC broadcasts are the well-trained and meticulously rehearsed voices of British Unionists and Judaism. They are certainly not what they claim to be,namely fair and independent and in any way impartial.

 Their manner is grossly derogatory of Britain's opponents. 

The British Israelite tone is overbearing, presumptuous and oppressive.

 We know from our experience of the British media in this country that any politician who courts the attention of the British media and its government eventually takes the imperialist path. He falls for the wiles of old maids paid to gather information.

In Northern Ireland I wonder if people in politics and the media can read that revolutionary,far-left but good old-fashioned nationalist publication, the Irish News before they come on air to talk arrant nonsense about compromised political parties having successfully got the vote out.

Did not the Irish News carry a report some years ago that over twenty per cent of those entitled to vote are not on the Electoral Register?

Perhaps as someone whose head has been turned by years of British and Irish Army noise measures,I am suffering from a failure of memory but is the number not now closer to forty per cent...I wonder but "my head is in a spin,my feet don't touch the ground..."...

I wonder,what is all the chatter concerning growing political mandates.

Cut to the quick and get real,broadcasting organisations,particularly those with input from government agencies. Your broadcasts do not reflect the objective truth no more than those of the Soviet Union represented public opinion and real concerns before 1988.

The application of the basic laws of international defence entails that Israel takes a more measured response to Islamic lawlessness than it has taken. Israel must lock its neck and pull out of Gaza and the Golan Heights.

Israel has no more right to take deterrent or preventive measures than I had to mortar Newry to ease IRA operations or engage in actions of armed aggression in the North of Ireland.

In the end,all soldiers,killers and criminals are lost but we should not celebrate the fact with acts of barbarism. Israel should not be lighting an unquenchable fire in the Middle East. If you ever join the Army or any armed organisation,and I hope that you don't,never talk to them about your family or they will set you and them up for arrest or worse because they will not be able to conceal their envy (Germ. Ehrgeiz) if you are better-educated and more intelligent. I think of a family of police pigs such as the Mc Nally and Porteous families, people who will shortly need to relocate to Britain along with the belle esprites in the media,politics and the legal profession.

You will eventually meet your persecutors, those of you who are artists, writers,actors, playwrights, journalists,musicians,those of you have said the wrong thing to the wrong person or have ruffled loyalist politicians' and policemens' feathers.

You will usually meet them around the turn of the year, anxious to get themselves 'covered' for another year of 'sporting and playing'. They idle their time away at the taxpayers expense,wasters and parasites all of them,so....

...be careful how you conduct yourself in public and do not give excuse for further cruelty and reckless illegality by careless gestures or untoward behaviour. Those careless words or gestures you may live to regret. 

We meet Secret Service and civil society funded military pensioners, urban cutthroats, medical charlatans and an assortment of wee dafties and cripples everywhere these days checking up on enemies of the state. Usually they are encountered when enquiring into matters which are no business of theirs,the most notorious amongst them being Protestant and Catholic criminals and hospital intendants. 

Change

Momentous change is underway in Ireland. The British military and Indian Army medical agents embedded in our country who are paid by the British Secret Service seek to mitigate their guilt for murderous crimes against the Irish Catholic population. They hope to avoid the blame for the chaos their ruinous policies have engendered for everyone left standing here.

Those who meddle with the labour movement, be it with clubs or knives,are looking for trouble. 

Only a fool or an imposter would meddle with such a large, cohesive body of workers as trade unionists,I hear you say?

Not so,the world is full of chancers.

 Disability payments fund this idle recreation. In the North,there are 382 000 in receipt of government stipends,many of whom can be called on to do an employer "a favour" or "a needy turn" against a trade unionist or labour activist. 

The main organgrinders of state terror soon make their appearance and get in touch with their quarry or victim. That eventually can under prevalent conditions hasten the earthly demise or removal of the target to a place of solitude. (Acts of curtilage are the response of those schooled by a Catholic country priest and a pedantic scholar such as Greer or Stannard and someone trained in Roman law and the rules of Roman civilisation. Rome was a brutal and barbaric society where only those who read the augurs for battle were immune from retribution).

Belfast. Advice for wayfarers

If you are not a gambler the IRA which is led from Belfast will want nothing to do with you and will not take you seriously. That is the  case since the business of the Leitrim and Belfast IRA's kidnapping of Don Tidey. That event earned the Leitrim Provos the Southern police heartfelt epithet of "desperadoes", those who like Phil Lynott "placed all their money on that last bet". 

If you do not want any contact with the IRA or Sinn Fein, HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GAMBLING or GAMBLERS and avoid doctors and nurses like the plague.

 Sinn Fein in the South and North fester on the open wounds of a perjured and decayed society left by urban ruin, something seen clearly by the British Labour Party in the 1970's.

An Irish conspectus

The Provos, lawyers and priests are all basically people who never intervene to help anyone unless someone is standing on his legal rights. All those divergent groups believe firmly in laws or the Law. They are at heart drawn to legality because they want to exercise power over people. 

When you  go to law, beware of people who spread rumours and circulate false stories and allegations against better and worse men than themselves.

 The Irish nationalist leaders try to be what by virtue of an uncharitable disposition and narrow-minded education they can never be, namely,spokesmen for the poor and downtrodden and dirt poor.

That lesson is the abiding lesson of our recent past.

Ultra-leftists 

In Ireland the persuaders for the nationalists and other dungmongers in power are ultra-leftists, those best described not as they describe themselves,namely as revolutionary socialists and Communists but as anarchist agitators. 

They claim to be socialists and on the left but in their various misleading guises they have put many honest people off voting and joining a trade union or associative body or professional organisation.

Rabble-rousers never talk about their true loyalties. They aim to waylay the literary innocent attracted to socialism into fronts for publishing empires such as Bookmarks of London, Findlaters of Glasgow and Collins-Random House of New York, Haymarket Press and Pathfinder Press and Pluto Press.

Publishers and their agents learned their old tricks of proxy exploitation and sham politics from the front groups set up by Russian Military Intelligence in the 1930's when socialism had given way to nationalist socialist and police terror. 

Socialism 

The most gifted agitators for revolutionary and democratic socialism are to be found dispersed across a wide spectrum of groups and organisations.

 That dispersal is the work of the police and undercover soldiers tasked with the control of protest and the suppression of democratic organisations.

Never have anything to do with British soldiers,members of the Orange Order or people who you know are spies.

They wouldn't hesitate to have you or a member of your family beaten up or killed.

It is their police handler or lodge secretary who is the real culprit. He may be a professional ringleader such as a part-time clergyman or lawyer,a judge of sorts.

The nationalist agitator tries to tie the worker to the tail of the doleman and unemployed,a trick learned from the priest and detective.

Most workers take no part in nationalist street games organised from Sinn Fein offices and civil society centres and dole offices.

They realise that if they become involved with the unemployed and police they risk being beaten up by that parcel of rogues or arrested when striking back in self-defence.

The doleman endangers the very well being of the worker and his family because,as often as not,if he doesn't get his way he will throw caution to the wind and come at his foil with a knife or gun. That is the point of origin of the hooligan movement in Ireland in the 1880's.

Criminals 

It is impossible to teach those inculturated in poverty and idleness and vice any discipline.

In our country,it has become impossible because of the grip of the idle classes to get a working class candidate elected. Sinn Fein encourages the hooligan to vote, a strategy long abandoned by Fianna Fail. The latter sees the danger posed to public order by the criminals professing nationalist views.

If Sinn Fein's claims to speak on behalf of the poor were ignored by society and the media interest groups,we would live in a much healthier,more work-conscious region.

Whatever about crude fripperies such as "Brits Out!" and "Irish Reunification" there is and will not be major support for the Border Referendum.

National liberation is not a socialist demand.

However national independence and self-government are both a democratic demand.

 If Sinn Fein want to stay on message,they must look beyond the end of partition and come up with real plans for social development in a law-governed state.

Socialists,trade unionists and social reformers and internationalists prefer to sit out the conflict of Irish nationalists and English imperialists and allow this carnal fury to vent its loins.

I ndeireadh na dala,it will be the working class which is left with the task of clearing up the mess left behind by people like Barry Mc Elduff,Eamann Mc Cann and Stevie Mc Cann not forgetting that random access madman,Colm Gildernew.

As was the case in the South after the conflict,the dolemen will be on their way to London for higher doles and more lenient treatment by an over-indulgent state.

In Ireland in the past,there were very few workers apart from agricultural workers. The rest were spongers. After Partition,the poor went to England to sponge. That is the reason the English hate the Irish. They realise that they are beggars and tramps at heart who need a good kick up the ass to get them going. The only people in Ireland who can deal with the real Irish are Fianna Fail. They whisper old nursery rhymes in their ear and put a few coppers in their begging bowls. The Irish, particularly the people of Dublin,are the road to no town. Anyone who tells you different takes you for a fool. The only people who know how to get things done in Ireland are the Provos because they know how to play one man off against the other and how to use and abuse.
