 The parties in the Stormont Assembly only gain 55% of the total votes of those registered as eligible to cast their ballot.

It is also the unspoken but recorded fact  that 28% of eligible Catholic voters are not on the electoral register and 22-24% of eligible Protestant voters  are not registered to vote....

It is clear that as Brecht catcalled in East Germany in 1953 after the results of the general election were announced,"The people have elected the wrong government, we must elect a different people..."

Surely when the people in Stormont are told that they do not have the support of the majority of the population,they see in Brecht's mimickry a non-humorous solution to the lack of legitimacy.....

The organ-grinders of the all-in-this-together kleptocracy are in Belfast and Derry. Noone else gets a look-in to the formation of Sinn Fein 'policies'.

Sinn Fein must ride the crest of ever greater outbursts of mock indignation and moral outrage like a country clergyman or amateur philosopher. By the latter,I mean Richard Boyd-Barret.

The only good ever done in the British Isles was by the British Labour Party in association with a few native social workers and that amount of Southern doctors who you could count on one hand.

Today,more than ever,the listening public should expect no sensible remarks from the right-wing Irish nationalist politician who claims to be a homely charmer and mollycoddles us with bumph and nonsense, concealing a lust for money for himself and his clientele. In the South he acts in association with the local parish priest and leading religious laymen.

Often this gombeen calls for more spending on psychiatry in our doctor-besotted country. 

When he comes to your house ask this pig in the parlour," Do you not speak out that a psychiatric hospital is a form of confinement, even more so than a prison? There is neither criminal charge nor determinate period of detention. Are you trying to get me or a family member killed or injured? Talk a bit of sense. Nobody in the health service does any work. They're laughing up their sleeve at people like you who advocate more health spending. Wise up,either that or go and drown yourself in Lough Erne!"

Address his fan club in a like fashion. Listening to a maladjusted individual or politician who comes on the radio talking nonsense about "mental illness" makes no sense to most former inmates of the asylum. 

Why do the idiots not see the elephant in the room? 

In Ireland, North and South,we live in a police state organised by politicians, police, Catholic clergymen, soldiers, lawyers,judges and medical personnel.

My soliloquoy on "the tune the oul' cow died on"runs as follows,

Firstly ,be on your guard against clergymen and those who conceal the mailed fist in a velvet glove. I am referring to nationalist politicians.

Secondly,turn off the BBC Radio Ulster news if it is annoying you.

Thirdly,avoid fair-weather 'friends' such as media figures, middle class journalists and those such as the  police who are the functioning executive of nationalist politicians. They are never far away from the microphone. Politicians, professional and concealed, like to give speeches to the unwary and naive. Their lives and those of their followers' are wound up in nonsense.

Extreme democracy and the labour movement in Northern Ireland. The South and Britain and politicians

Trade unions represent a great social good with little or no protection  from government and precious little support from civil bodies. 

Because of the historic influence of those recalcitrant thugs,Communists in trade unions, there has been much noise but little light shed on the internal workings of trade unions and few are recruited to trade unions from industrial employment.

In Northern Ireland,we are involved in a struggle for mere freedom from arbitrary arrest, psychiatric detention and poisoning. Those who can not deal with reality such as former revolotionaries and similar escapists-I refer to Sinn Fein and the Stormont clique of senior civil servants and mouthpieces - pontificate about national independence and social wellbeing respectively. 

In his later years,the leader of the British left found comfort in this extreme democracy, not parliamentary socialism. That leader being Tony Benn. His eclectic nerve ruined him and led to his arrest and police-medical imprisonment. (The arrest of Tony Benn proves that there is nothing more certain than a right-winger such as Roy  Hattersley and his medical helpers turning police informer under pressure of events. That has been for decades part of the abiding political crisis for Western democracy engendered by the collapse of Marxist dictatorships in the East).

Money for service to labour and democratic movements?

In a colony such as the North, Communist right-wingers in the  labour movement and their fellow travellers in ginger groups such as the Communist  Party of Ireland are well known for getting their hands on others' income and chattels to feather their nests in their new places of abode.

Labour politics in the age of the internet and social media 

Many influential individuals and those who regulate society from day to day-I refer to the medical police and health bureaucracy -do not accept that democratic criticism improves lives and makes politicians do their jobs. Hence,the growing number of public pensioners in Northern Ireland and Britain can not criticise because they do not have the power of class articulation nor any economic clout to overcome doctors censorship.

The legacy of Thatcher is that enormous wealth rests in a few hands.

In Northern Ireland,the outcome of the GaFA is that we live against a backdrop of continuing industrial decline, social dystopia, police terror and a multi-polar state without one body at the helm of government.

For the period from the Good Friday Agreement to the present, the matter of criticism of doctors,those trusty knaves and accomplices of the police, generated no meaningful response from the Stormont Assembly.

What should we make in these difficult times of the labelling of a generation as mentally ill at the behest of partitionist, reactionary and nationalist politicians in our circumscribed democratic statelet?

In the South,big money political interests legislate only reluctantly when confronted by the labour movement. They have to be confronted with the threat of a general strike and generalised labour discord.

Only the ICTU is able to gain concessions for the low paid and marginalised. Social atrophy and political immobility is down to the influence of the South's neo-colonial politics. Joining them in the party political hullabaloos and pensioner street scenes are decaying elements of  the far-right police and army.

As The British Army in Northern Ireland Volumes 1-3 puts it,"The Irish country people are long on talk and short on information."

Irish city people used to see in Irish country people comrades in the fight for jobs and higher wages. The worldly wise journalist and advocate sees country people's socialism as no more than stubbornness and truculence. The Irish countryman sees in the town dweller a fanatic out to cheat him. His simple notions and transparent deceptions must be met with scorn and contempt. 

 The countryman's reactionary nature is down to a mind full of precipitate nonsense, real-life games of violence and thuggery and conservative mischief.

Why,so?

 Because the country person is a 'cute hoor' who pushes someone from the town into the frontline to take the bullet for him. Those who mix with idiots become like them.

That explains a lot of the tomfoolery elucidated and dramatised in my soliloquoy in July-August 1988 in Rathmines,Dublin,a 'drama' with profound and far-reaching consequences for the Eastern Socialists.

Today in many instances in Northern Ireland, people turn to law.

Other people turn to that fickle type of friend,a politician,for support and mediation because the courts are closed to the majority. 

Why are courts the prerogative of the rich?

 Even with Legal Aid,few can negotiate the perils of the judiciary and the legal profession.

Some politicians thrive on a background of no labour organisation having the power or determination to bring them to account. The trade union official is in an ambiguous relation with the politician (Lenin,Left Wing Socialism,an Infantile Disorder,1919). 

However,in the North of Ireland,these days, politicians can do more to help individuals than trade unions but they can only do so because they mediate social differences. Sooner or later, every politician will spurn his or her constituent and ask him or her to go away because at the end of the day none,NONE,are true socialists or working class representatives.

Labour is better for jobs and housing, industrial employment and public housing, certainly not private housing.

Take for instance the period of reflation after the labour troubles and strikes of the years 1978-79.

In Northern Ireland industrial employment rose from 210 000(1979) to 230 000 (1981).

Then the wreckers moved in with the demolition ball to destroy our industrial heritage. Because of the reactionary influence of an over-weened police force and a cowboy in the White House the real economy of the West entered a decline.

That decline in Northern Ireland has led to endemic, unreported crime,the triumph of the idler and the waster and the exaltation of the showbiz celebrity and spiv.

A waged worker does not have security of employment. That fact marks the origin of trade unionism (and craft hostility to general workers and the unemployed worker).

The government employee has no need of trade unions and should not be in one because he usually has more than adequate means of economic support. In addition ,he enjoys political solidarity in the form of employer arbitration,civil society support and legal protection.

The craft worker and general worker only unite against government employee when circumstances are pressing and urgent. Those circumstances embrace minimal remuneration to keep living standards up and maintain safe working arrangements and adequate provision for sick leave, unemployment and leisure.

A Labour fool such as Brendan Howlin or Ernest Blythe talks and acts in the manner of the country squire by cutting wages,living standards and social standards. The trimmer is never welcome in labour circles and his nemesis is the general strike when trade unions break free from the halter of a runaway coach. That is symptomatic of a political collapse. 

Eventually nationalist whimsies whether they be from Fine Gael or Fianna Fail or Sinn Fein or country wiseacres prevail and society goes back in time about twenty or thirty years.

The lessons of the past are clear.

Irish Labour Party heads always desert and betray trade unionists and the poor. They clear a path for quack remedy salesmen such as Sinn Fein and independents as they describe themselves. In the latter instance,I refer to Danny Healy-Rae,the Kerry landlord.

While there may be very little that can be said in favour of Fianna Fail, under Ahern it led a democratic revolution which laid bare the timbers of the sinking ship of cronyism and nationalism and corruption so beloved of the Catholic Church and GAA.

Those who lament the passing of the age of Lynch, Haughey and Reynolds also lament the passing of the age of terrorism, unrest and emigration and they generally do not favour the economic rebirth of our country.

It  has been led by Fianna Fail,solely and alone with only the occasional prod from others.

Fianna Fail is getting on its feet again after a difficult hiatus.

Even Sinn Fein has become a democratic party and the nationalist element of all parties is in retreat. A country rescued from the scrapheap is set on the path of open government and strict accountability.

That,my good sirs,is a DEMOCRATIC revolution. Not extreme democracy,a workers republic. The patient's condition is improving and he is out of a coma (or 'bind').

The Provos learned a lot of their old tricks from the British Army. They were all in it or had some connection to it. The English always come out on top in the end over Free State farmers like them. They're only cowards at the back of all their big talk. When you see them anywhere when they're in employment,they try to get others to do their job for them. John West is typical of the rest of them. He wouldn't work in a fit, neither him nor his brother nor the rest of them."

Someone who tells you not to vote is often someone who has been in contact with a known police agent such as a small shopkeeper who doesn't normally give a tuppeny damn about anyone and wants you to be the same as a misery-guts such as himself.That sort of person takes their orders from the Special Branch or Orange Order. The burning question in the North:heroin

 Heroin was introduced to Britain and Ireland in 1952 by Pakistani and Indian medical students with no other means of paying their tuition fees at medical colleges,colleges,that is,such as the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Those students had no valid or recognised educational qualifications and were dependent on naive Westerners to grant them entry. Elections are to be held to local government councils on 18 May next. How to vote?

As you would put your money on a young team in any football match,your support should go to the name of the youngest, keenest,most educated and best qualified candidate. You will find none of those in any major party.

I say,vote for a graduate and don't degrade yourself to the level of a shoneen by voting for "a donkey with a tricolour on its back coming and going across the border". That type of candidate appears on every ballot paper and insults even his most steadfast supporters. Sinn Fein is full of those put-in t?shoneens.

Do not change party allegiance unless one of their party officers or a candidate has betrayed you,deserted you in a crisis or not paid you and a relative for services rendered. That type of apparatchik insults and degrades everyone.

Reynolds grand initiative to create a low-tax economy in association with Ray Mc Sharry,Bertie Ahern and Charlie Mc Creevy amounted to financial pyramid schemes and a regurgitation of Thatcher's fickle economic certainties (when all three were not cooking the books). Nationalist politics boiled down to a piece of political haberdashery.

A realistic appraisal of economic change 

Ireland's industrial and economic growth was bankrolled not just by German and European Union fiscal support but by US industrial benevolence. That impetus was something bought at the cost of loss of American imperial treasure in blood,capital and technology.

With regards to the main protagonists in the advance from ape to man in Western societies,two prominent names stand out. Those names are Marx and Lenin. Also featuring prominently is Marx's literary executor, Friedrich Engels.

There are many leading facts to be discovered about Marx and Engels which iconoclasts reject.

Marx and Engels hijacked the English labour movement in the 1860's. They were left behind by the Germans at the 1875 Unity Conference and Engels rejected the demands which have become the basic tenets of modern socialism in the discussions on the Erfurt Programme of the German Social Democratic Party in 1891.

 In the 1840's Marx and Engels hoisted themselves  up on the back of the Communist League and created what became a great schism by forcing out the Christians such as Weitling. Weitling's emigration to the US gave rise to a constant cycle of packed meetings, conspiracies, showboating,rigged ballots,political grandstanding,verbal abuse and rhetorical handstands in trade union circles,all the trademarks of their ultraleft sects not political parties of the working class.

The "scientific socialists" attempt to hoist themselves up onto the back of workers and claim the credit for the actions of  others. Each and every one of them is at least a backslider and a curmudgeon,the road to no town. The Pbp group are a case in point. Inspired by old books that should be thrown out, this group is moving into the place allotted to it in a slabbering contest in the South.

In the North Sinn Fein's vote fell from 227 000 in the Assembly elections to 175 000 in the last local elections. Their core vote has been declining since its highpoint in the 2010's.

PBP,Sinn Fein and the people who inspire them such as the Workers Party are the mortal foes of any democratic socialist government. (The opportunists and the populists never give the poor and working man his say in public affairs. They say that rival parties exist by and thrive on media spin. Sinn Fein are often accused of intimidation).

 Only a minority of the traditional Irish party of opposition,the republicans, endeavour to help the thinking public with any success. Most of them resort to mob violence when their poverty of ideas is publicised.

Why the marginalisation of ultraleftists? 

It is their own doing. The democrats present themselves to the electorate regularly. Those who hope for a class-based revolution go by the name of modern-day Communists. They do not.

The active Communists number 11 throughout the island of Ireland. Barry Murray, Eugene Mc Cartan and Tommy Mc Kearney are irrelevant. In their perorations, they are blowing soap bubbles out of their backsides. In Ireland these Stalinists (or Communists) have always been irrelevant apart from to trade union officials. 

The eccentricities of the Communists everywhere do not matter to anyone who is possessed of even a modicum of common decency. They go around trying to hook young people and send the disgruntled affiliate into the arms of the jailer when he refuses to supply them with information that they intend to sell to the Gardai.

When we hear Communists and their fellow travellers such as PBP and listen to their collective criticisms of the real working class movement,we say,"Now we see you in your true colours,neither democrats nor socialists, but semi-anarchist and pro-imperialist elements intent on sowing the seeds of economic ruin. You are harbingers of a change which will never come not least because you in your tiny groups styling themselves political parties do not want real change or actual improvements in the lives of those who you purport to speak on behalf of. That change would render you irrelevant to their needs. Address your remarks to your diminishing band of followers and leave me and my friends out of your grandiose schemes. You do not speak for me or anyone who I know."

The Marxist project,1858

Marx in Foundations of Political Economy (see Introduction,Grundrisse,1856-8) set out to write six different works. 

In the event he left only Volume 1 of Capital. That book focuses on the materialist conception of history, labour conditions,the origins and spread of industry,the profit motive,money and the accumulation of capital.

But regardless of the political, social and economic phantasmagoria of public life, there are many other dimensions of human life and social existence other than the former social Darwinism and historical materialism.

Yes,but a salve for those who seek redemption and salvation in dusty old tomes....

The Old Mole (as he called himself) with his description of capital accumulation and writings which embrace the best working descriptions of political discontent and working class hostility to the rich,not forgetting his dialectical materialism, discovered many of the key aspects of modern social existence and historical development.

 Just because he cannot sit on our shoulders to give us political advice today does not mean that his writings are wrong in economic, historical or philosophical terms. However,we must approach them with caution because  they are deterministic.

The political legacy of Marxism has greatly diminished. People like myself believe in the legal and constitutional rights of man.The Rights of Man (with apologies to Tom Paine) are something the Germans and Russians might not respect but other countries put them at the centre of their way of life.

Despite their heartless outlooks, practices and ideas some scientific socialists are good-hearted. I am thinking of seasoned old campaigners on the moderate spectrum such as Kieran Allen and Willy Cumming but we cannot get away from the fact that theirs is a callous, inhuman and degrading ideology no better in its workings than slavery. 

A relationship of enslavement was precisely what the Russians found themselves in almost immediately after the consolidation of "the dictatorship of the proletariat". With the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly in November  1918 came the autocracy of first Lenin then the rabid dungmongering of Trotsky. That was succeeded by the Stalin Terror.

Some words of advice 

If you become entangled in the snares of Communists or the ideology of Stalinism and atheistic Bolshevism, consult a priest for guidance and absolution since it is a grave moral error requiring the Sacraments.

Revolutionary socialists and Communists sow division and hatred. Their enemy is the family and they seek to destroy the family and the church. They bring ruin not just to themselves but to others and to those who vote for them.

My advice is to vote Labour,social democrat or for a democratic candidate who stands for election regularly and at least goes to Mass or a place of worship occasionally.

Revolutionary socialism belongs to what is known as a place of rabid over-the-top shouting and bawling such as a marketplace. There the din of a thousand voices contend,a tower of Babel.

Amongst the dated concepts of revolutionary socialism is the inevitability of a dictatorship of the proletariat. 

Why do we call out this joint aim of the dolemen,petite bourgeois intelligentsia and French and Irish cutthroats?

Because social and working conditions are immeasurably better today in Britain and Ireland than in the  nineteenth century. The recidivists fall down in non-engagement with the political process, that being organised elections. True socialists (German socialists) sit on the fence and talk vaguely about trade unions,a topic they have little knowledge of. They claim to see themselves as in solidarity with every Tom,Dick and Harry who ever lifted a spade but have little knowledge of the working life. Nihilistic ideaisation leads to contempt for real politics. These people are part of an endangered species of rarefied old fairy godmother. 

Syndicalism and the Irish Communists

The CPI version of syndicalism in the 1930's gave way to the hole and corner reformism of the Irish Labour Party. This labour stew ferments into fringe journalism noone other than Indian fakirs take as coming from the heart.

The British Army and their friends do not want political engagement by Irish people or civil rights protests or working class democracy. Irish nihilists perpetuate their apolitical views.

That is all you were paid for your proletarian exertions on behalf of British Military Intelligence and the dogends of society attracted to you and your affiliates."

As regards the other end of the CPI who claim the mantle of Connolly,democrats say that they are semi-anarchists drawn from the scum of all classes. 

The game has moved on past even the Irish trades unions to a society based on the primacy of politics,The Just Society.

Political engagements deliver social security, pensions, education, policing,roads,social supports, public and private housing and regulation. 

We say to the tinpot dictators and honorary proletarians,"The German statist model has been superceded and abolished in the West and East respectively."

Trade union government?

Very desirable BUT trade unionists don't give a hoot about the poor. When the levels of absolute poverty reached critical levels under Thatcher,Bush and Blair, real politicians had to step in and regulate the body politic by ironing out social differences.

Always good but the classic totalitarian model of "scientific socialism" was a society largely run by trade unions.

Because of having had no authority figure in early life they have no standards to measure themselves by. They are cast adrift early and usually come a cropper early on in life. They cannot live without police approval because it is the police who have the power to curtail their activities and force them to dissolve their group and to hand over their assets to their creditors. So-called Communists have done irreparable harm to the working class cause in Ireland by tying workers interests to the coattails of national democracy.
